How To Install A Range Hood

Yes it's true, I FINALLY did something manly in the house.  I replaced our white range hood with a sleek and sexy stainless steel one.  Why you may ask?  Was it so that the house would look more put together when we sell?  Maybe... Was it to avoid doing other work?  Possibly....but more importantly, it was to prove I could do it, and I got to play with my new drill set too.

Hit the jump for the play-by-play
Step 1: Buy Stainless Steel Range Hood, take out of box, and read instructions

Step 2: Switch off fuse that covers range hood so I don't get electrocuted.  Remove old, ugly, white hood fan

Step 3: Take break, admire work so far, and wonder "what the HELL have I got myself into?"

Step 4: Install rectangle ventilation thingie (this is the technical term I'm sure) and act confident to uneasy wife who wonders why I call parts of the range hood "thingies"

Step 5: Hook up electrical components, drill new holes and affix new range hood to cabinetry

Step 6: Turn back on power.  Test.  SUCCESS!!!  Smile and fist pump with new drill

  1. you forgot the part where I figured out how to remove the "thingie" from the range.
Oh and the many times I said "let's call Adam.."

Ps - my verification word was mereh - which I can only assume is a derivative of "mreh"
